What the ATG Lab Does
Our Translational Genomics (ATG) Lab is a unique lab service, offering novel evidence to help clarify variants of uncertain significance (VUSs). The goal is to help healthcare providers and their patients better understand a VUS result, to guide medical management and care decisions.
The ATG Lab tests for various types of alterations that are often difficult to assess with the limited information available. Our specialized studies and validated assays can provide the data points needed to better define whether a VUS is benign or pathogenic. With this information, we can better clarify an uncertain result and, ultimately, find the answer for a patient and family.

The reality is that genetic test results can come back inconclusive, known as variants of unknown significance (VUS). This may be due to insufficient data or evidence being available to interpret the result. Whatever the cause, a VUS makes it difficult for healthcare providers to deliver clear and actionable medical guidance to patients.

Eligibility for the ATG Lab
Having Ambry as a lab partner means patients and their family members will be eligible for our ATG Lab services at no extra cost. ATG Lab services are also available to clarify VUS results identified through genetic testing performed at other laboratories.
