Recent events have required limitation of non-urgent in-person appointments to slow the spread of covid-19. Despite the recognized value of genetic risk assessment, counseling and testing, many cases will not be considered urgent. Additionally, the population typically served by genetics providers may be at higher risk for infection and/or consequences of being infected.
In an environment of increasingly long wait lists, one option is to make the move to virtual care. Rapid changes in insurance coverage and billing codes, the availability of saliva collection kits for genetic testing, as well as improved access to multiple virtual platforms allow for new opportunities to transition to telehealth provision of genetic counseling services. This webinar will cover what to consider as you assess your current resources and readiness to provide telehealth and practical resources that will help you implement telehealth. Even if you have never provided telehealth before, you may find that you are "virtually there".
Only the live session qualifies for CEUs but when possible, we host the recordings on our website and NSGC recommends participants to use their personal email instead of work email addresses to ensure they receive their CEU certificates.
