From a trio to a duo: Non-paternity identified through diagnostic exome sequencing

  • After notification of non-paternity findings, a majority of health care providers elected to proceed with testing as a duo and requested modified reports, despite subsequent limitations to analysis.
  • None of the health care providers elected to disclose the non-paternity findings to the accepted father or proband.
  • We recommend that health care providers counsel families about the possibility of detecting non-paternity prior to testing.
